Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week will run from January 26th-January 31st.  We will kickoff the week by having students pass out thank you notes to the parish during weekend masses and students will speak at weekend masses to thank parishioners for their support of St. Ambrose and explain why they love our school.

The schedule for the school week begins on Monday.  Monday-Thursday students may wear St. Ambrose spirit wear shirts and uniform bottoms.  Friday will be a free dress down day.  On Monday, all students will participate in making crafts for a local nursing home.  These will be completed with virtue families on Monday morning.  Immediately following the craft, students will get into formation for a photo for Bri.  Seventh grade will be hosting their annual penny wars Monday-Friday as well.

On Tuesday, the KC Spelling Bee will take place from 9:00-11:00 for grades 4-8th.  Please see Mrs. Wackerly if interested.  In the afternoon, PK-3rd will attend the Kids Heart Challenge presentation in the gym while 4th-8th grades will attend mass with the Bishop at St. Mary’s.

On Wednesday, all students and staff will have donuts following mass.  6th-8th grade will participate in the Science Fair.  ALL students, except for Kindergarten, will then be included in Game Day starting at 1:00 pm.  PK3 will meet with 5th graders, PK4 with 4th graders, 1st grades with buddies, 2nd with 3rd grade (maybe split one 3rd grade with one 2nd grade to keep lower numbers in each classroom), and 8th graders who have Kindergarten buddies can stay to play games in homeroom.

On Thursday, Katie Price will be here for a prayer service in the Community Center with PK-5th grade with fifth grade assisting in the prayer service. She will then hold a spiritual retreat in the Community Center for 6-8th grades from 12:30-2:30.

On Friday, all students may dress down for Movie Day! We will depart from the lower lot at 8:30 with approximate arrival at Roxana Theater at 9:00.  Students will pair up with their buddies the same as they did for Game Day (except 8th grade WILL be with Kindergarten).  Students will receive popcorn and a drink.  We will watch Toy Story 4 (run time of 1:40) and return at approximately 11:30 am.  We will then have lunch and recess with our virtue families.  Lunch is pizza, cookies, and water provided by SAPA.  All students will, hopefully, be able to go outside for recess together. Students can return to classrooms after recess and be ready for the Faculty v. 8th grade volleyball game at 1:30. We should have a chance to see Gus the Super Saint too!

Permission slips for mass and Movie Day will go home next week.  The cost for the movie will be $5.  A note explaining the cost and food allergies will accompany each permission slip.  Please return permission slips by January 29th.
